Massimo Allegri says Italy are spoilt for choice over candidates for the national team job.
The former AC Milan coach has been linked with the post.
"What characteristics does the Italy Coach need to have? I don't know, as I've never done it," Allegri said.
"I certainly can say that Italian Coaches are very good, as the Coverciano courses are the best in the world. There are many Coaches who are capable of doing the Italy job.
"Would I be up for it? There's no point discussing it now, as they still haven't decided who the new President of the Federation will be.
"It isn't a total disaster, as Italy are capable of excelling in any sport."
