Ex-Aberdeen winger Smith hoping for fresh chance at Colorado Rapids

Former Aberdeen midfielder Jamie Smith is hoping to start afresh at Colorado Rapids.

Smith's first season in MLS was injury-plagued and he is in preseason training now aiming to get fully fit.

He told Soccer365: "When I was younger I played as a wide-player and as I got older I played more central.

"But, at the club there's a host of players that play centrally so I'll probably be out wide. I'll just try to score as many goals as possible. The last team I played for back home I played more central, but I'm just looking forward to staying injury free and playing as many minutes as I can.

"At the moment I'm just trying to focus on getting as fit as possible, play as much as possible, and that decision is for Gary (Smith) and Steve (Guppy) to make. If they want me to play then I'll play and if not then I'll have to work harder and make sure I get in the team."
