Evra set to win new Man Utd contract offer

Manchester United fullback Patrice Evra is to be rewarded for his performances with a new deal.

The 26-year-old Frenchman, who has recovered from a rocky start to his United career, said: "It is never easy to join a club half way through the season like I did, and my first six months were very difficult. I came from France and English football is stronger, quicker and more physical.

"I knew that when I had a preseason with everybody I would be more confident and able to do my job properly and that's what happened.

"Even when I had a bad game the manager was not angry with me. He applauded me all the time and that is the reason I think I didn't lose my confidence. I wanted to show why Manchester United bought me."
