Manchester United fullback Patrice Evra hailed Wayne Rooney's performance for their FA Cup win at Manchester City.
Evra insists Rooney is the key to the club's hopes of landing a 20th league title.
Evra said: "Wayne always works hard and fights hard and he showed that against City.
Evra also reckons Paul Scholes' shock decision to come out of retirement is another huge boost to United's hopes of retaining the title.
The French star added: "It is great news about Paul Scholes. Of course it was a big surprise but I never understood why he stopped.
"He is the type of player who embodies the story of the club so it is a big boost for everyone.
"Manchester United never die. A lot of people forget that, they don't want to respect the story.
"When you have the story that is behind this club, you know that when there is a difficult moment you will answer back because everyone in this team has big character and big personality.""He scored two goals, I am happy for him and I hope he keeps doing this because, to win the title, we need Wayne Rooney."
