Manchester United defender Patrice Evra was impressed with the Reds win over Valencia on Wednesday night. The 29-year-old left-back was part of a defence that kept a clean sheet in the Mestalla in the UEFA Champions League, as United earned a hard-fought victory in Spain.
Evra praised United's back-line and the returning Rio Ferdinand, as Sir Alex Ferguson's men put themselves into a strong position in Group C thanks to a late goal from Javier Hernandez.
"To be honest, they had possession like all good teams but the defence was not split up and Edwin (van der Sar) did not make a save," Evra told Canal+.
"All domination from the Spanish was in midfield with dangerous crosses, but Rio was amazing after being out for a long time."
The France international believes the result was all the more impressive because of the number of players United had missing.
He added: "We are a very big team, we are missing so many players at the moment but we used our experience of playing in a top league with top talents."
