Patrice Evra is proud to be captaining Manchester United in Nemanja Vidic's absence.

The France fullback is United's permanent captain while Vidic recovers from his knee injury.

"Of course I am proud," he commented on being given the job.

"It is a privilege to be the captain of this team. But it is a big responsibility.

"You have to show the example on the pitch and sometimes out of it as well."
