Juventus fullback Patrice Evra admits he tried everything to bring Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester United.
Evra also has revealed former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's confidence that Ronaldo would return when he was still in charge.
Evra told BBC Sport: "He [Ferguson] even told me, '99% Cristiano Ronaldo will come. 99% Patrice, Cristiano will come.'
"I was like, 'Wow we're ready to bounce back and win the Champions League again.'
"Did I ever try to persuade Ronaldo to return to United? Yeah, a lot. A lot.
"And he was like, 'Pat for the moment I don't know.'
"When I was talking with him [he said], 'I don't know.'
"He says, 'Pat you know the way I love Man United.'
"And I remember he said when we played against them at Old Trafford, he said, 'Pat all night I could not sleep.
"'My nose even bled for the emotion. Too much emotion.'
"I remember when he came on to the pitch and I see the way the fans they stood for him, it was just amazing."
