Evra confident Man Utd will stay top

Patrice Evra is convinced that Manchester United can hold on to their lead at the top of the Premier League.

The reigning champions took a step closer to retaining their crown after a comprehensive 3-0 win against Liverpool on Sunday, and are now five points clear at the summit.

A run of five consecutive wins has seen confidence soar in the Red Devils' dressing room and French full-back Evra is confident that the United players will not wilt under the pressure of the tightest title run in for many years.

"We have seven games left and they are seven finals," he told the Manchester Evening Post.

"I think we have our destiny in our own hands and I hope we can carry on and win the title.

"We are in a great position because we have played consistently well.

"Sunday was a massive game for us and this is why everybody is happy."
