Everybody wants us to stay in the Premier League - Blackpool's Carney

Blackpool left-back David Carney believes that plenty of outsiders want the club to remain in the English Premier League next season.

The Seasiders currently sit 18th on the table with one more match remaining - Manchester United at Old Trafford - and although the odds are not with them, Carney says many people not involved with the club are hoping they can somehow stay up to continue their free-flowing football in the top flight.

"A lot of people want us to stay in the Premier League, not just our own fans," Carney told The World Game. "That's because we play football the right way.

"Even at training it's all about passing drills and technique and touch. The boss (Ian Holloway) has us watching tapes of Barcelona and that's the type of football he wants us to play.

"We've won over a lot of neutrals playing to entertain, and of course also to try and get results, and the boss has got a great spirit going at the club and is a terrific man manager."

And Carney, who is currently back in Australia undergoing rehab on his injured shoulder, made it clear that he wants to remain at Bloomfield Road if it was possible.

"I'm really happy there and I definitely want to stay. I have a good relationship with Ian Holloway and I think if I can prove my fitness than another deal shouldn't hopefully be a huge issue," he added.

"We'll just have to see what the club does once things are sorted out. I am sure we will talk then.

"The Premier League is the best in the world, what player wouldn't want to be a part of it.

"I'm hopeful we can get something against Manchester United and other results will also hopefully go our way.

"I think we'd be a big loss for the Premier League - and I'm going to be back in England this weekend cheering the lads on."
