Everybody still has a chance for WC squad - Verbeek

Australian national team boss Pim Verbeek admits that every player he has selected in recent times is still a chance to make the 2010 World Cup squad.

After naming his squad for the Asian Cup qualifier against Kuwait in January, Verbeek mentioned that it was now up to all the players on notice to prove themselves before he picks the final 23-man squad in June that will go to South Africa.

''That's very simple. I'm not going to advise anything. They are all aware enough what's going in the forthcoming five, six months. On the 11th of May, I make the final [World Cup] selection of 30 players. On 1st of June, I make the selection for the final 23. Until that time everybody has a chance to show themselves," Verbeek said.

''OK, if they think they are selected, if they go to the beach, it's their decision. If it's their decision that they stay here, it's their decision. If they want to go to Europe, it's up to them. I'm not going to say anything any more about it.

"I think I made my point, didn't I? … So it's up to the players. They can take their own responsibilities. And it's up to the [Socceroos] coaching staff to make their decision on the 11th of May.''
