Everton captain Phil Neville has paid tribute to Gary Naysmith, who signed for Sheffield United last week.
"He was the longest serving player at the club and it was funny because I spoke to Simon Davies a few days ago and he was my first room mate at Everton and when he left I shared with Gary. I don't think many will be queuing up to be my room mate next.
"Although Gary played a lot of games last season it probably was not enough to keep him totally happy. At the end of the day you have got to think of your career and every Saturday when the manager names his team sheet you want to be in the 1 to 11.
"I am sure Gary had many sleepless nights because he was with Everton for the largest part of his career and when you have an affinity with the club it is very hard to make the decision to leave.
"He has joined a good club at this stage of his career and good luck to him because he is a top quality left-back," he concluded.
