Everton defender Joleon Lescott is determined to win a place in Fabio Capello's first England squad.

"People like me, Ashley Young, David Bentley, those on the fringes - we've got as good a chance as anyone now," Lescott told evertonfc.com. "I know I need to be on top of my game until he names that squad and hopefully I'll be in there.

"They weren't the best results obviously but, experience-wise, I've done it now. I've played for my country. If someone had said when I signed for Everton that the following season I was going to play four games for England I would have snapped their hand off, no matter what the results were."
