Everton defender Phil Jagielka has revealed how 'keeping it simple' has helped him establish himself at the Blues this season.

Ahead of their UEFA Cup clash with Fiorentina, Jagielka said: "Tim (Howard) likes it when I get the ball as I am not going to do too many Cruyff's.

"There are not going to be many stepovers from me on the edge of the box. Tim roughly knows what I am going to do.

"As a back four, you need to know what people are doing around you - and it seems to be working.

"The number of clean sheets we have chalked up recently has been fantastic and we need to take that into the game against Fiorentina."
