Everton's Anichebe shaking off injury

Victor Anichebe hopes to be fit for Everton for tomorrow's date with West Ham United.

The striker missed the weekend clash with Fulham because of a jarred hip and has been receiving intensive treatment this week in a bid to be available for the visit of the Hammers as the Blues seek to close the gap on Liverpool in the race for fourth place.

He told evertonTV: "It is getting better. I will have to see about the weekend but hopefully I can be fit because we need everybody fit for the last few games.

"It has been a problem for a while and it has been coming and going. I redid it in training, I tried to block a ball out and I just felt a pain.

"It was just too sore at the time (against Fulham). There is no point in risking it for one game when we have got eight games to go so I may as well just be fit for those last eight games.

"As soon as AJ was coming off I was gutted because that would have been my chance to get a game but that is just the way football is. I will get another opportunity and I will take it when it comes.

"Everyone is really pleased this year and we are in a really good position. Hopefully we can push for that fourth place but fifth place is not a bad place to be but obviously we are pushing for the best."
