England Under-21 manager Aidy Boothroyd believes that failure to get a transfer may have impacted young Ademola Lookman's game.

The Everton youngster was subject of a move from RB Leipzig.

However, the move did not materialize and Boothroyd believes it may have knocked the player's form heading into the new season.

Young Lions boss Boothroyd said after the 2-1 win over Latvia: "I thought he was nowhere near his best."

"He's very talented but when there's a lot of speculation, it can get inside a player's head."
