Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill has told Sky Sports News that compatriot John Stones would be a welcome addition at Stamford Bridge.

Cahill was reacting to reports this week that have linked Chelsea with a big money move for the Everton youngster and despite knowing little about the speculation, the Blues star is excited at the prospect of Stones joining him at Chelsea.

"Stones is a great player, I've seen him in the Premier League, especially last season," said Cahill.

"I have seen him up close and personal and I've trained with him with England and he is a top young player."

Asked if he would welcome Stones to west London, Cahill continued: "Of course, he is still young and of course he is still learning in many aspects, but in terms of potential he is fantastic... it would be great it it happened."
