Everton won't make massive changes this summer - Jagielka

Captain Phil Jagielka does not believe that Everton will go through wholesale changes during the upcoming summer.

While Everton managed to allay fears of relegation following their 1-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday, there is no denying the fact that the Toffees have endured an abysmal campaign so far.

As a result, manager Roberto Martinez is expected to make a raft of changes during the summer in an attempt to reinvigorate his side.

However, Jagielka does not believe that the Goodison Park outfit need to go through a major operation and has stated his belief that despite the difficult campaign, the current crop of players can still constitute a good side.

"There will be some people that leave, inevitably with contracts running out or because games are not getting played and you never know what sort of offers will come in for players," Jagielka said.

"I wouldn't use the word overhaul though. We've proved that we are still a pretty good team, it is just finding the formula.

"We've had quite a few lengthy injuries to key players and some that are obvious and some that are not so obvious, so it is making sure they stay fit and try and progress for the rest of the season and we try and get a healthy squad for the start of next.

"And when the fixture list comes out we hit the ground running and get on that roll a lot quicker than we have done this season."
