It appears the World Cup dream for Everton and Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru could be over.

Reports suggest the player is at serious risk of missing this summer's tournament in Russia.

Onyekuru suffered a knee injury during the Anderlecht victory over Eupen in the Belgian Pro League on Friday. It looks as though the injury could keep the player out for at least six months.

However, Onyekuru believes that he will be back sooner, with the player tweeting that he will return fitter and stronger in the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen whether Onyekuru can recover in time for the World Cup, and whether he will have the match fitness necessary to compete for a position in the Nigeria squad.
