Everton winger Mirallas hails Rooney goalscoring impact

Everton winger Kevin Mirallas praised Wayne Rooney after he again struck in their 1-1 draw with friendly opponents Genk on Saturday.

New signings Rooney and Sandro Ramirez combined to open the scoring against Genk on Saturday as Everton signed off before Thursday's Europa League tie against Ruzomberok with a 1-1 draw.

“It is always good when you play with good players – and Wayne is fantastic," Mirallas said.

“Everyone knows him. He came back here because he wants to help Everton. It was the best move for him, for his family, for everyone.

“The other thing is that he has a lot of experience to help the young players.

"We have got a lot of good young players here and he will help them every day. “You could see it was a difficult game for him to start off but then, there is was – one chance, one goal. You need a player who can do that.

“I was with my family and I saw the news. I was so happy.

“My brother Cedric rang me and said 'you're going to play with Wayne? You are so lucky!'

“I just said: 'I know, thank you!'"
