Everton winger Henry Onyekuru proud being named Belgium's 'Promise of the Year'

Everton winger Henry Onyekuru has been named Belgium's 'Promise of the Year'.

Onyekuru, on-loan at Anderlecht, made his name last season with Eupen before joining Everton last summer.

The trophy was collected by his Anderlecht teammate Leander Dendoncker with Onyekuru in England recovering from injury.

"Sorry I'm not there tonight. I want to thank everyone for bringing me where I am. My family too. In addition, I also owe much to the Aspire Academy and Eupen. They gave me the opportunity to grow," he said.

"And Anderlecht obviously cannot be forgotten. I hope to see you back on the field soon. I miss you."

He added: "I worked hard last season, with results. Apparently that is also noticed by others. Because of my injury, I'm going through a difficult period now, but this prize means a boost for me in my rehabilitation. It is proof that if you work hard, you achieve your goals."
