Everton manager Roberto Martinez is hopeful of having James McCarthy available as soon as possible following the injury to Muhamed Besic.
Besic was forced off after only 10 minutes of Everton's 2-1 defeat to Swansea City on Sunday and it looks like the midfielder is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The loss of Besic is certainly a huge blow for Everton and Martinez is optimistic that McCarthy makes a quick recovery from his injury in order to negate the loss of the Bosnian international.
The Everton boss said: "James has got his own focus of being available for the team. It has been very unfortunate to lose Mo Besic at this moment of the season because he was in terrific form and it is a miss.
"The level Mo has been at in the last four or five games has been Mo at this very best, we are a better team with him at his best. But we all know how special James McCarthy is and if we can get him back to full fitness it will be a massive boost.
"When you lose players like Mo Besic and Kevin Mirallas, to get back Tom Cleverley, Seamus Coleman and have Steven Pienaar fit helps and James would be the final piece of that.
"The truth is that to not have a player like Mo and feel we can still do that and perform in the same manner, tells you that the strength in the squad is very impressive."
