Everton manager David Moyes hopes talented young striker Victor Anichebe commits himself to the club.
The 22-year old Nigerian has turned down a new contract offer from the Toffees and Moyes fears he may depart Goodison Park before realizing his full potential.
"I hope he signs with us because I actually think it is the right place for him if he really wants to have a career," Moyes said.
"Some people might think it's better to leave here and it might work for them - but I don't.
"For Victor, if he wants to have a long career, I would try and get this sorted. I think there's a chance we can get something sorted.
"I believe deep down he probably realises this is the best club for him. But he does lack a bit of self belief at times."
