Everton U21 coach Alan Stubbs praised Magaye Gueye after he struck twice in victory over Arsenal.
His first, a stunning 25-yard free-kick, put Everton ahead with just five minutes played, before he drilled a decisive second beyond goalkeeper Matt Macey just moments after the half-time break.
"It's a great first goal from Magaye," he told evertontv. "Sometimes it can be a little bit disheartening as a first-team player when you're playing for the Under-21s, but it was purely for him to get fitness and to get games under his belt.
"First and foremost, his attitude has been great, and he's got what he's shown tonight in his locker.
"I'm really happy for him and you can see that it means something to him as well to get the two goals."
