Everton are moving for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Nzonzi.

The Daily Mail says Everton have opened talks over a move for N'Zonzi after failing in an ambitious attempt to land Michael Essien.

David Moyes had hoped to bring Chelsea's out-of-favour midfielder on a season long-loan but could not agree a move for the Ghanaian.

Everton's manager has turned his attentions to Blackburn's N'Zonzi but it remains possible he will make a late attempt to take Liverpool's Charlie Adam.
