Everton are stepping up their interest in Valencia winger Carles Gil.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is eager to find a replacement for Gerard Deulofeu, who won't be returning for another loan spell from Barcelona next season.

Gil has been a long-term target for Martinez and he is now intensifying his pursuit.

The midfielder enjoyed a successful loan with Granada last term.
