Everton tell West Ham to up bid for Yakubu

West Ham United have been told to up their offer for Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

The Daily Mail says Everton have rejected an improved £7million offer from West Ham for striker Yakubu.

West Ham owner David Sullivan is determined to give new manager Avram Grant a proven goalscorer and sees the 27-year-old Nigerian as the ideal man.

Although Yakubu struggled with six goals last term, he was coming back from a serious achilles injury and Grant believes he can recover his sharpness through the World Cup and extra pre-season training.
