Everton tell Middlesbrough they'll bid again for Yakubu

Everton will test Middlesbrough's resolve this week over striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

The Mail on Sunday says after spending miserly sums all summer, Goodison chairman Bill Kenwright is ready to splash out £22million before the end of the transfer window on Benfica midfielder Manuel Fernandes and Middlesbrough's Yakubu.

Kenwright has told Boro chief executive Keith Lamb he will be back with an improved offer for the striker after an initial £10m approach was turned down.
