Tottenham midfielder Steven Pienaar is risking missing out on a permanent move to Everton.

The Mail on Sunday says Pienaar is still waiting to hear from Everton over his future at the club, despite the on-loan Tottenham midfielder's contribution to a huge improvement in fortunes for the club since his arrival in January.

Pienaar's loan spell ends in May and Everton are keen to retain his services but once again, financial restrictions on manager David Moyes may prevent the player they originally sold to Spurs in January 2011 from making his return a permanent one.

Tottenham want in the region of £3million and his wages would also be a massive stumbling block.
