Everton are in talks to join this season's NextGen Series.

Blues boss Roberto Martinez is determined for Everton to lead the way in improving the transition from Academy to senior football for the club's young guns.

"We are going to work really, really hard as football club to get in the NextGen because that's another experience for the young players," Martinez told the Liverpool Echo.

"I still think on top of that you need to get that competitive edge and competitive football.

"The NextGen is something this football club is going to invest heavily in to try and get that competition into the development of our youngsters."
