Everton stay for Donovan a possible scenario

LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan says the chance of him extending his loan at Everton could be likely.

The 28-year old USA international’s short-term spell at Goodison Park expires this month but after he scored in the 5-1 win over Hull City on Sunday, he said there was a slight possibility he could remain a Toffees player.

"First of all, winning was important and it's nice to get a goal," Donovan said.

"There is a chance (of staying). We will know more this week. If that was it then I'm happy. Maybe we can stay a little longer, we'll see.

"The fans, the people here are fantastic, the players are fantastic. I've enjoyed it here tremendously."

But Everton manager David Moyes was more realistic about Donovan’s chances of staying at the club after he played what Moyes thought was his last game for the club.

"I said to him 'go on and finish with a goal'. I thought he finished it great. The effort he has put in for us over the past two months has been terrific," Moyes said.

"I hope it's not his last game (at home). He's certainly good for the game next week against Birmingham.

"I might try and see if I can extend it a little bit longer but, at the moment, the word from America is that it won't be possible and we respect that decision."
