Everton star Cahill says management not for him

Everton star Tim Cahill admits being a manager won't be for him when he retires.

Cahill has seen the criticism David Moyes has copped at first hand and struggles to understand how he copes.

"It might be very exciting now but it's been a hell of a long season," he said. "It started off slowly and I learned some harsh lessons quickly. You have to fight. You have to stand up and be counted.

"But I remember the manager being questioned as well. That was one of the craziest things I have seen in my life.

"The manager was having to put in kids, even though they were some of the best talent Everton has ever produced, and he was getting criticised from some quarters.

"We have shown the way we have come back what this club is all about. The players who have been here a long time know we are trying to create something special.

"The biggest part of that for us is the manager, the staff and the chairman. Have a go at the manager and you are also having a go at the players.

"I wouldn't want to be a manager in this day and age, especially the prices players are going for and the fact that clubs like Everton can't compete with that."

When his career is over in England he will return to his homeland.

"I will definitely go back. It's where my family is and it's nicer for the kids to live outdoors more," Cahill added.
