Everton boss Dave Moyes faces being priced out of a move for Newcastle United striker Michael Owen.
The Daily Mail says Moyes would love to take Owen to Everton in a flash but there is one major problem. Right now the highest paid player at Goodison Park is earning closer to £40,000 a week, making Owen far too expensive for them.
It is a similar situation at Tottenham, even if Harry Redknapp might have more money to spend than Moyes. Which probably leaves Manchester City - currently fourth from bottom in the Barclays Premier League and in dire need of a striker who can score with the consistency of someone like Owen.
City manager Mark Hughes could yet turn to Owen - the former Liverpool favourite is certainly on a shortlist at Eastlands - if he finds it difficult to lure his chief targets during the January transfer window.
