Everton slap in new bid for Standard Liege's Defour

Everton have made a £12 million offer for Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour.

The Sun says Toffees boss Dave Moyes wants to bring the Belgian star to Goodison and pair him again with £15m record buy Marouane Fellaini, his former midfield sidekick at Liege.

But the Belgians are desperate to keep hold of 21-year-old Defour.

A Liege source said: "It's true Everton have contacted us on four occasions. Their boss likes him a lot but we don't want to sell.

"Last season when we lost Marouane, we were not in the Champions League. But this year we are and we want Steven here to help us."
