Everton to slap in bid for Leeds striker Beckford

Everton are ready to make an offer for Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford.

The Mirror says the Goodison club are overwhelming favourites to land the 22-year-old on a free transfer at the end of the season when his Elland Road contract runs out.

Leeds have already turned down an offer of £1.8million from Newcastle for the forward in the current window, in the hope that his goals between now and the end of the season win them promotion.

Blues boss David Moyes is keen to bring in a striker before the deadlines passes, with Jo now departed and injury doubts lingering over the four strikers he has at the club.

And he could be prepared to offer Leeds £2million for Beckford in the hope that he can bring the transfer forward from the summer, allowing the striker to solve his current problems.
