Everton skipper Neville inspired by Man Utd veteran Giggs to play on

Everton skipper Phil Neville says retirement is not on the agenda.

Indeed, Neville is using former Manchester United teammate Ryan Giggs as inspiration as he seeks to extend his career.

Neville told evertonfc.com: "I think at my age you tend to take it one season at a time but I feel as fit as I ever have. I feel great and like I can go on for at least another two or three seasons. We are eight months into a long, hard season and I feel as fit and as fresh as I have done for a while.

"I look at someone like Ryan Giggs and he is an inspiration to all of us. He looks as fit and as quick as he always has done and is still one of the best players in the Premier League. I am trying to follow his example and do all the right things and look after myself.

"I have got one year left on my contract and I always plan my season ahead and when I come back for next season my plan is to be ahead of everyone else, to be fitter than everyone else.

"I think the most important thing is that you are enjoying coming to work," he added. "If you are enjoying training and enjoying playing in the matches then you want to keep on going."
