Everton skipper Neville eyeing top-four finish

Everton captain Phil Neville believes the club can achieve a top-four finish this season.

The former Manchester United man is currently in Australia with the rest of the squad on the Toffees' pre-season tour in Tim Cahill's homeland and said that the Merseysiders were capable of mixing it with the best this term.

"It's [finishing in the top four] definitely within our capabilities next season," said Neville.

"I think the Premier League is more wide open than it has ever been. We just have to concentrate on doing our own job.

"If we do that in the Premiership next season then we can finish in the Champions League places."

Neville also said he was hoping new recruit Jermaine Beckford could help provide some much-needed firepower up forward after enjoying some prolific seasons with Leeds United recently.

"Jermaine has got a great goalscoring record and he seems to have good confidence and he knows he will get a chance at Everton," Neville added.

"It's up to him to take it."
