Everton captain Phil Neville is delighted Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and Joleon Lescott are part of the England squad.
"Fabio Capello has watched the big games we have played since January and he's seen those three lads could perform in them," he told evertonfc.com. "They are in the squad on merit and aren't there to make up the numbers."
The selection of Baines, who is making his first appearance in a senior England squad, was particularly pleasing for his Club captain.
"Bainesy is one of the best in his position in the Premier League," said Neville. "I have always thought that. I watched him in a lot of games at Wigan and also when he played for England's Under-21s.
"He looked like a real top player to me but it just took him a bit of time to find his stride and get up to speed. But there have been circumstances - when he came here, he arrived with an injury and he couldn't get right into it.
"When he did get fit, he found it hard getting back in because Joleon's performances at left-back had been so good. I noticed a change though when we came back for pre-season. His training was outstanding, he's been really determined to step up to the mark.
"You can see that in the way he has been playing. He is one of our main suppliers of goals and has struck up a great partnership with Steven Pienaar. Make no mistake about it, he fully deserves to have a chance of winning his first cap."
