Everton skipper Neville: Arteta one derby bonus

Everton captain Phil Neville says the one bonus from their derby defeat was the extended run Mikel Arteta received.

Arteta was a first-half substitute for the injured Marouane Fellaini.

"Mikel coming on meant we could dictate the game even more because he's probably one of our best ball players. We had large amounts of possession in the game," Neville told evertonTV. "But when we got in that final third when we needed a little bit of composure, maybe even a cross, we just didn't produce. We had still had chances, but we just didn't have enough quality.

"I think when a team goes down to 10 men they're probably harder to play against. You know that they are looking for maybe just a set-piece goal which is what they got. But we gave away maybe three or four set pieces just after half time so we played right into their hands and that's why we're disappointed."
