Everton signing Holgate concedes penalty in U21s debut

Everton's new signing Mason Holgate's debut for the U21 team didn't go as planned as he conceded a penalty early on in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old defender, who arrived from Barnsley last week, fouled Reds striker Harry Wilson inside the box in the 12th minute. The attacker duly converted the spot-kick to give his team the lead in the Merseyside mini-derby.

Joao Teixiera and Sergi Canos both scored within the next 23 minutes to give a 3-0 lead to the Reds.

The Blues were handed a life-line when captain Joe Williams scored a goal right on half-time.

Conor McAleny and Tom Davies were on target in the second half as the Toffees clawed their way back into the game to notch a 3-3 draw.
