Everton signing Alcaraz: I had plenty of offers

Everton signing Antolin Alcaraz admits he had plenty of offers after coming off contract from Wigan Athletic.

Remaining in the Premier League was always Alcaraz's intention - despite interest from clubs elsewhere.

He told evertontv: "We talked to a lot of clubs but I was always interested in staying in the Premier League. I like this competition and at this moment in my career I thank Everton for giving me this opportunity to continue in the Premier League.

"It's different from the other football leagues in Europe. The competition is very hard and you don't feel a lot of difference between the big clubs and the small teams. It's very competitive and that is great. I really like the football in the Premier League."

Alcaraz also believes that Everton's geographical proximity to Wigan will help him acclimatise to life at his new club.

"It is great because I'm already settled down here," continued Alcaraz. "I really like it because I also have my kids here and they can continue going to the same school. My family already feel happy in this place.

"It's great - everything is coming together and it is a great opportunity for me and my family. They can continue with their friends and we don't need to change city."
