Everton are set to bid for Zenit St Petersburg winger Andrei Arshavin.

As they prepare to sell James McFadden, Everton are lining up Russia international Arshavin as a direct replacement for the Scot.

Arshavin, so impressive at Goodison Park when the Blues faced Zenit in the UEFA Cup group stages last month, has made no secret of the fact that he would welcome a move to the Premier League and a number of clubs have expressed an interest in him.
