Everton's Rodwell backs England U21s for European glory

Jack Rodwell feels the England U21 squad is strong enough to take out this summer's European Championships in Denmark.

The Young Lions kicked off the campaign with a 1-1 draw with Spain thanks to a late Danny Welbeck goal on Sunday and now Everton's Rodwell is confident they can kick-on and take the title.

"The squad we have got is amazing. I think we have got a really good chance," he told skysports.com.

"We did really well last time and just dropped short after getting to the final, but this year the team is even stronger again. I think we can go one step further.

"It's a big tournament," he added.

"I remember watching it when I was a kid and I think a lot of England fans will be watching. There is a lot of pressure on us as well, so hopefully we can live up to the expectation."
