Everton captain Phil Neville has revealed that he was being linked with an England coaching job but insists it would have been too difficult.
The Toffees veteran still plans to continue playing and says getting involved with Roy Hodgson's Three Lions coaching staff would have taken away from that.
"It was an honour to be linked but there was no approach. I am still a player. I think it would have been impossible for me to do it," he said.
But Neville, whose brother Gary was appointed as an England coach, was thrilled to spend some time with the England U21 team to gain further experience in the coaching department.
"I see David Moyes and other managers being obsessed with detail and sometimes think: 'Switch off', but you can't.
"Those three days were a perfect learning experience. It also made me realise what a special thing being involved for your country was.""To go away with the Under 21s was an amazing opportunity," he added.
