Everton's Lukaku plots West Brom downfall after 'heart-breaking' West Ham defeat

Romelu Lukaku has implored Everton to bounce back from their devastating FA Cup defeat to West Ham United.

The Toffees lost in the third round to the Hammers on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Upton Park on Tuesday night with two goals - one from Lukaku - coming in extra-time.

In the wake of the disappointing result, Lukaku is now focusing on a much-needed victory when the Merseyside club meet his former employer West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League at Goodison Park on Monday night.

"We need to keep our head up. It's heart-breaking but the performance is promising for the fans and for us as players," he told the Echo.

"We need to take our revenge and take our energy out against West Brom.

"We're all about giving our maximum and never giving up and even with 10 we were the stronger side; physically and technically, in every aspect of the game."

In last night's meeting in east London, Enner Valencia opened the scoring for the Hammers in the 51st minute before Kevin Mirallas levelled with nine minutes remaining, sending the contest into extra-time.

Lukaku then edged the Toffees ahead in the 97th minute prior to Carlton Cole's 113th-minute equaliser before Sam Allardyce's men got the better of Roberto Martinez's Everton 9-8 in a dramatic penalty shootout.
