After making his debut on Boxing Day, Everton's 18-year old Dan Gosling was given another opportunity just two days later at Goodison Park.
It was an opportunity he grabbed with both hands as he scored his maiden goal to wrap up the 3-0 results over Sunderland in front of home fans.
The experience has made Gosling keen to play regular first team football but he knows he has a tough task on his hands.
"When the gaffer gave me the nod, I was buzzing," he told the Liverpool Echo.
"This has been a big step up.
"Hopefully, the gaffer knows what I can do now and there will be a few more chances in the future.
"It is hard to get in but, once you are in the team, it's even harder to stay there.
"You have got to keep performing on a regular basis. I know the hard work is going to start now.
"It's been a long time coming and the gaffer has been careful with how he has used me," he added.
"I don't think I was ready to play in The Premier League when I first got here (from Plymouth), but training with the lads has been a tremendous help."
