Everton’s Cahill wants whole opening weekend postponed

Everton star Tim Cahill believes the entire opening weekend of Premier League action should be postponed.

Everton star Tim Cahill believes the entire opening weekend of Premier League action should be postponed.

Rioting and civil unrest in London, and other areas of England, this week has forced the Premier League to cancel Everton’s away clash with Tottenham but Cahill feels it would be wise to delay the entire season by a week until everything settles and the emergency service workers get some time to relax.

“The main thing is, you have to think about the police who are working day in, day out," Cahill said.
"The ambulance, the firemen - they are human beings. We need to reward them, people need to help them. I know it's not up to us, but that is important.

"For us, if we have to sacrifice an extra week at the end of the season to finish off the games, then so be it."
