Leighton Baines is aware that talented youngsters in England will always be closely monitored by the media.
That is the case with Baines' Everton and England teammate Ross Barkley whose dip in form this season has been well-documented.
Left-back Baines feels there should be more patience with the supremely gifted midfielder and has urged critics to hold off on their judgment in the future.
"Unfortunately if you're a good young talent in England the media will put you under a lot pressure, that's happened to Ross," he told Sky Sports News HQ.
"He's going to have ups and downs. He's still in development years to an extent and we just need to get him through that and not put him under too much pressure."
