Everton have failed to win in four games and manager David Moyes blames the inability to put away chances for the poor run.
The Merseysiders were bundled out of the Carling Cup on penalties after a 1-1 draw by League OneBrentford on Tuesday night and it was the inefficiency in front of goal after Seamus Coleman's opener which did the damage.
"We just couldn't score," said Moye.
"We should have got it out of sight.
"I thought it was going to be one of those nights.
"We abused the opportunities we had to score and knew that they would keep coming and in football you have to take those chances when they come."
