Everton are pushing to open new contract talks with James McCarthy.
The Sunday World says Everton boss Roberto Martinez is urging his board to pin McCarthy down to a new contract before he is tempted by the prospect of a move to North London.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a long-time admirer of McCarthy and has tracked his progress since his days at Wigan.
But McCarthy opted not to make a move for the Scottish-born star before he made a £16m move to Everton in the summer of 2013.
