Everton have reportedly made a move for Tottenham's Federico Fazio.

According to the Daily Mail, the Toffees have launched a £5million pursuit of the Argentine defender who was close to joining West Bromwich Albion last week.

Fazio's proposed move to The Hawthorns fell over when discussions broke down on the weekend which has allowed Everton to step in as they continue to search for contingencies for the expected exit of John Stones to Chelsea.

Former Sevilla centre-back Fazio could link up with fellow Argentine Ramiro Funes Mori at Goodison Park with the River Plate defender set to join the Merseyside club for £6m this week.
